“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Reading is magical. It gives children and adults comfort and reassurance, confidence and security, relaxation, happiness and fun. It feeds our imagination, helps us empathise and become better human beings. Not only that, children who are readers have an academic edge over their peers and an advanced understanding of the world.
Armed with a mission to build a Nation of Readers, Stones2Milestones equips schools with a phonics based reading instruction program called ‘Wings of Words’(WOW) , specially designed to build the will and skill to read in children from age 3 to class 3.
WOW consists of six levels offered at different grades and covers the five important components of reading. These are phonics, phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. It also focuses on creating a reading culture in schools.
WOW makes reading interesting and enjoyable for the children. It has been running with great success in our network of schools across the country. Teachers have shared endearing stories of inspired children and parents.
In the spirit of the same, we feature a poem written by Pallabi Mohapatra from The Orchid School, Pune.
It beautifully encapsulates the essence of the program and its deep impact on the children.

But why should I read?
I met somebody today
She did not ask me to read
She asked me to listen
When she sits and reads
Oh! It’s wonderful, I don’t have to read!
Her reading helps me imagine, visit and live different worlds
The world of a butterfly or a world where no one’s shy
Today, she was reading, the bell suddenly rang
Oh! Why did the bell ring at such a wrong time?
What happens in the story?
I really need to know!
I really need to know, not tomorrow but now!
But how should I go about it?
How? How? How?
Of course I know! I always actually knew…
I need to start reading…
Now! Now! Now!
Today I vow,
To begin my journey with Wow! Wow! Wow!
We are proud to collaborate with such impassioned educators and schools across the country. This, indeed, is a WOW moment for us!
